GI-Encap Details

Helps maintain stomach and esophageal health*

Can be taken out of the capsule for a soothing tea

Herbs enhance the stomach's protective mucus layer*

Although aloe vera has significant gastroprotective efficacy,* some forms of aloe vera can produce a laxative effect. GI-Encap's aloe vera ingredient comes from the inner fillet of the aloe vera plant, which avoids this effect. Similarly, licorice root preparations, which support the stomach and duodenum,* can cause blood pressure to rise in some individuals when given in higher amounts. Therefore, the licorice in GI-Encap has had its glycyrrhizin removed, which prevents increases in blood pressure.* GI-Encap also contains slippery elm bark (Ulmus rubra) and marshmallow root (Althea officinalis), both of which contain mucilaginous components that can soothe the digestive tract.* To soothe esophageal irritation, GI-Encap can be taken out of the capsule and mixed with warm water to drink as a tea.

Special formula

Deglycyrrhizinated licorice is well known for its ability to optimize mucus production by gastrointestinal mucosal cells and to promote a healthy GI tract.* Licorice root preparations have been used for many years for the nutritional support of the stomach and duodenum.* Glycyrrhizin is removed from the extract to prevent a rise in blood pressure that has been observed in some individuals taking whole licorice root.*  This enhancement of mucosal resistance may be due to plantain's ability to increase both mucosal thickness and the mucosal concentration of proteoglycans – essential components of a healthy mucus membrane.* Slippery elm bark (Ulmus fulva) and marshmallow root (Althea officinalis) contain mucilaginous components that are soothing to the digestive tract.* Aloe vera demonstrates significant gastroprotective effects via a number of mechanisms, including mast cell stabilization and antioxidant effects.
